This week our 10 newest welding students have successfully completed the theory element of their intensive WWETB training programme and have now quite literally taken up the torch (the welding torch that is). The group have begun the practical module of the programme onsite at Keltech's training centre based in the newly refurbished K2 area of our 150,000 sq ft facility.

The programme has been specifically tailored to meet the needs of Keltech whom supply OEMs in Ireland, the UK, Europe & the US.

The new students will be awarded their national framework certification in December on completion of the course. The group; most of which are just finished secondary school are benefiting from Keltech’s Earn While You Learn approach and will be transitioned into Keltech production from January 2021.

Pat Butler now Keltech Operations Manager & himself a former Keltech Welder welcomed the new recruits as the eager bunch finally got the opportunity to put some theory into practice. Pat explained the importance of the programme “Keltech have experienced significant growth in recent times. We have become recognised as one of the top suppliers in Europe in our category. We really are proud of the fact that from our Irish facility based in County Waterford we supply 6 of the top 10 construction original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) in the world… Our ability to create top quality welding capacity has been the corner stone of this success and initiatives like this is what gives Keltech the competitive edge in the market!”

The Waterford based firm has received numerous accolades in recent times for their quality of product but perhaps none more impressive than the SQEP “Supplier of Excellence” award from Caterpillar which was recently presented to Keltech for a 5th year running. This award (based on exemplary quality performance) makes Keltech part of an elite group of suppliers, in fact there is just a single digit number of suppliers in the Caterpillar fabrications category in Europe that hold this achievement.

Piotr Starosciak Keltech Welding Excellence leader whom is conducting weekly independent testing of the students during the programme commented “this is only the beginning of the journey for these graduates, they will all now go through an intensive on the job training period before full introduction to the welding capacity plan early next year”.
