Keltech are the first indigenous Irish manufacturing company to create an inhouse City & Guilds certified training programme specifically designed for the enhancement of our floor operators.

Modules such as Welding, H&S and Lean make up the programme which, on completion, is an accredited FETAC Level 5 allowing candidates progress to further third level education.

Keltech GM Declan Walsh says « Keltech has always been passionate about our people and the ethos has been to promote from within where possible, I myself started my career as a press brake operator and worked my way up to the General Managers position over time. »

Declan continues « In the past 5 years 90% of all promotions to the Senior Supervisory roles and Office roles have come from the floor. The engineering department in particular have benefited from this, with now over half of the team coming from floor origins. We are blessed that WIT college is right on our doorstep and individuals whom show talent and drive have always been supported here, we now have 3 engineers who have completed their level 8 qualification by night and we have more candidates now in the pipeline. These Engineers not only have the technical expertise obtained through their course (Solid-works proficient etc), they also have the first hand knowledge of working a punch, press brake or welding plant and that experience leads to top quality results.

The City & Guilds programme is another step on this journey » Declan concludes. « We are now formalising the ethos of personal development we have had since day one. Through the  programme we can now enhance and formalise our skill base and with the level 5 award candidates now have the opportunity to further develop their careers at Keltech, our number one asset in this company is our people, we continue to develop this asset and we continue to create a gap between us and our competitors »

Keltech is a Contract Manufacturer with core competencies in sheet metal fabrication. the company currently employs 120 people at its 90,000 sq ft facility in Waterford City Ireland. Its supplies product to customers in Ireland, the North of Ireland, the US and the UK.
