Leonard’s Journey: From Village Roots to Keltech Leadership

At Keltech, we pride ourselves on recognising potential, nurturing growth, and promoting from within. One of the clearest examples of this is Leonard Giani Hartuchi, our newly appointed Production Manager of our Final Assembly department, whose incredible journey is a testament to what’s possible with dedication, integrity, and the right support.

In just three years, Leonard has received five promotions, progressing from a General Operative, Material Handler, Team Leader to Store Manager, and now stepping into his new role as Production Manager. His rise reflects not only his hard work and talent but also Keltech’s belief that the best leaders often grow from within our own ranks.

Where it all began

33 year old Leonard, was born in the village of Oleșești in Vrancea County, Romania, a region famous for its vineyards, traditional crafts, and deep sense of community. His parents, deeply rooted in the cultural and practical knowledge of their land, instilled in him strong values of discipline, honour, and respect. His father, a former army man, raised Leonard and his twin brothers with an emphasis on hard work and civic duty. One of the golden rules in the Hartuchi household? “Always be part of the solution, never the problem.”

A New Life in Ireland

Leonard moved to Ireland in 2012 at the age of 20, determined to build a better life. His first job was on the night shift in Supermac’s on Dublin’s O’Connell Street. Over the years, he worked across many sectors, from hospitality to retail management, eventually finding his way to Waterford, drawn by its Viking history, countryside, and quiet charm.

It was during this time that Leonard set his sights on a career in manufacturing. After working as a contract cleaner at Sanofi, he heard that Keltech was hiring and took a chance. He researched the company, wore his best suit, and showed up ready to make an impression. That chance turned into a career changing opportunity.

The Keltech Chapter

Leonard began at Keltech as a General Operative, and undertook the Keltech Welding Academy in 2022. From day one, his commitment was clear. He trained intensively, passed his TIG and MIG welding tests, and was immediately put to work on some key products. With an eye for quality and a drive to learn, he quickly rose through the ranks, first as Team Leader for Material Handlers, and then as Store Manager.

Under Leonard’s leadership, the U Store (Keltech Supply chain hub) has gone through  major transformation. His team now manages almost €2 million in stock, over 4,000 SKUs with dedicated zones for major customers. Thanks to his strategic organisation and dedication to continuous improvement, Keltech has achieved record accuracy in stock takes and significantly reduced stockholding costs.

Leonard has always been eager to grow, and credits his progress to the people around him, from Pat Butler, Operations Manager who first interviewed him, to our former Training Manager Jeff Imrie who trained him in welding, and Supply Chain Manager, Tatjana Basek, his manager, who coached and supported him throughout his journey. He also highlights the many training opportunities Keltech provides, including his Black Belt course in Lean Six Sigma.

A Message of Gratitude and Ambition

Leonard’s story is one of resilience, humility, and ambition. In his own words:

“I take great pride in my work and in the company I work for. I’m very grateful to be blessed with such a fulfilling life and surrounded by great people who support me and encourage me to chase my dreams and shatter any barriers in my way.”

As he transitions into his new role as Production Manager, we know Leonard will continue to bring the same energy, innovation, and leadership that have defined his journey so far. His story is a powerful reminder that at Keltech, we don’t just hire talent, we build careers.

Congratulations, Leonard, we’re proud to have you on team Keltech. We wish you well in your new role, and are excited to see the changes you bring to our Final Assembly department.
