Technology drives Keltech’s new dual wrap paint line but its key operators like Liviut Chirita that bring it to life.
Born in the picturesque town of Balş Romania Liviut has always been a hard worker whom was good with his hands. ” In Romania I worked for many years manufacturing metal roofs. Beacuse of the climate in Romania metal roofs are actually very popular. They are strong and durable, when it gets really hot they reflect the sunlight and help to keep buildings cooler.”
In 2017 Liviut took the big decision to emigrate, taking with him his wife and daughter. “I had the desire to make a better life for my family. When I arrived in Waterford in early 2017 I felt a real warmth and welcome from the people, it reminded me of home”.
Within weeks of his arrival Liviut applied successfully for a position at Keltech. “My english was not so good but when I searched and found a company in Waterford doing metal fabrication I knew my experience would help me”.
Declan Walsh COO “Liviut stood out very quickly. He is a hard worker but also very technical. He immediately grasped the organization of parts and how to create a tempo and flow that ensures the paint line is running efficiently”. Liviut was moved to the front of the line where he was responsible for hanging frequencies and layout.
Declan continues “There is lots to consider in this position: total weight of loaded flight bars, Sq meterage coverage (Not enough parts you are inefficient, too many you risk quality) and so on. Liviut doesn’t miss a beat, he is an exceptional worker.”
Liviut concludes ” The last 7 years have been fantastic. Im so lucky that my grandson is growing up in Waterford. I cherish my family time and love fishing at the weekends. My job in the paint shop is very rewarding, everyday I see parts transformed into amazing colors for some really big customers. I have made many friends here. Im proud to call Waterford my home”
